the process

garden design consultancy

Our initial meeting will be a brainstorming and troubleshooting meeting where we discuss ideas for your garden and talk about your requirements.  During our meeting I will take a design brief and carry out a site assessment and take soil samples. This will also be an opportunity for me to take photographs and really get a feel for the site. Following this meeting I will provide you with a copy of the brief and a fixed price contract for the first stage of the design.

  • The Survey

Once the brief is agreed a comprehensive site survey will be carried out noting all features, measurements and levels. I will usually carry out the survey myself, however on larger or difficult sites I may recommend employing a professional surveyor.

  • Outline Proposal

At our next meeting we will discuss the outline design proposal which will comprise a selection of the following visuals: sketches, mood boards or 3d models to enable you to visualize the finished garden. Any tweaks to the design will be agreed at this point

  • Presentation Plans

Once the concept has been agreed, the final scale plans and specifications will be drawn up. At this stage, where required, planting plans, construction drawings and setting out plans will also be drawn up.

  • The Build

I will assist you in obtaining quotes from trusted builders with whom I have worked before or with your own preferred contractors. I will brief your selected contractor prior to the build and monitor ongoing progress to ensure the build is completed according to the plans and specifications.

  • Planting

I will supply plants and carry out planting if required, although I am also happy to work along side you. This will be a great opportunity for you to get to know your plants and garden! I will also supply a plant information sheet which will give advice on how to care for your new plants.

  • Maintenance and Aftercare

I can put you in touch with trusted gardeners who can keep your garden in top condition. Following on from the completion of your garden, I will visit you to ensure your garden is developing and maturing and offer advice on how to care for your garden.
