Chipstead Garden Design
The garden is being built in three phases, starting from the far end of the garden, and finishing with the driveway, around the construction of the new house. The garden is a mix of contemporary and traditional design and at the far end includes a woodland garden with mature trees set around curving lawns and beds overlooked by a pretty wendy house. A large porcelain terrace and lawns are positioned centrally in the garden and provide places to relax around a large Koi pond. Groups of birch trees underplanted with mounds of Japanese Forest grass soften this contemporary space. The kitchen garden with its raised sleeper beds and border of espaliered fruit trees will soon be complete with the addition of a greenhouse. The main terrace is flanked by pleached hornbeam trees, and Yew hedges provide a dark backdrop to the white Hydrangeas. Four Roof form Mulberry trees underplanted with Nepeta and Salvias break up the space, framing views through the garden and forming individual rooms for dining and lounging. The client has added his own outdoor kitchen and stand-up bar to complete this fabulous entertaining space. We will be returning to complete the drive with oak garage and office.
